Infocore ConnectIf 2020 taught us anything, it was that we can’t control everything in our lives. There will always be situations that are out of our control, but 2020 was TOO MUCH. In 2021, we are embracing something that we all can control within ourselves – wellness.  Wellness comes in all shapes and sizes (meditation, breathing and yoga are just a few examples) and reaps many benefits, including relieving stress and anxiety. Check out a few of our favorite ways to practice mindfulness!

The Best (free!) Mindfulness Apps

What’s better than having a de-stressor at your fingertips? These are a few apps we love that will help calm that noggin.

Headspace: Headspace is perfect for those that are new to meditation or feel they don’t have enough time in the day to meditate. Their guided meditations can last anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes – how easy is that?

The Tapping Solution: Tapping is another version of meditation that includes, you guessed it, tapping. Following along with the visual meditation to tap away any stress!

Insight Timer: This app has over 25,000 guided meditations – need we say more?

Calm: From daily calm meditations to sleep stories read by celebrities like Harry Styles and Matthew McConaughey, there’s no surprise everyone loves this app.

Apps not your thing? UCLA has some free guided meditations on their website (https://www.uclahealth.org/marc/mindful-meditations). YouTube is a great resource, too!

Simple Practices to Include Daily

Wellness doesn’t have to be a chore! There are many ways to incorporate even just a small amount of mindfulness into your daily routine.

Journal: Journaling is a great way to get all your thoughts and feelings about the day on paper. Journals with prompts like the 5 Minute Journal are great for those that need a starting point!

Recite Affirmations: Daily affirmations don’t have to be grand – it could be something small like “I will complete this task today” – even the smallest affirmations will make you will feel more confident in yourself and reduce stress.

Breathe: Breathing techniques, like the 4-7-8 method, help reduce anxiety and stress, especially when you are at your tipping point. The 4-7-8 method is simple: breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for seven seconds and breathe out for eight seconds. Repeat four times and you’ll be golden. Always take a moment to breathe!

Practice Gratitude: Practicing gratitude helps ground you when you’re feeling stressed. It’s a great reminder of what you have in life, even during a stressful time.

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to wellness and mindfulness. What’s something you like to do to de-stress? Share in the comments below, we’d love to hear from you!
