Infocore Connect: Go Green and Stay Healthy!
Did you know that eating certain greens can help relieve stress?
This month’s #WellnessWednesday post is dedicated to March’s special holiday – St. Patrick’s Day! St. Patrick’s Day has us thinking about everything green, including food. Check out some of our favorite green ways to de-stress below!
Leafy Greens
Studies have shown that adding leafy greens into your diet (like spinach and kale) can reduce stress. Why? Leafy greens contain folate, which produces dopamine. Looking for the ultimate leafy green? Chomp on some chard – in addition to folate, swiss chard contains magnesium, a mineral your body depletes itself of when you’re stressed!
Matcha
You’ll have the perfect excuse to drink matcha lattes daily after reading this! Matcha powder is filled with L-theanine, an amino acid that is said to help combat both anxiety and stress. Fill us up with all the matcha, please!
Broccoli
We already love broccoli for its help in lowering risk of heart disease and cancer, but now we have another reason to love it! The nutrients in broccoli (including magnesium, folate and Vitamins C and B6) have been proven to reduce stress, especially in women.
Parsley
Parsley is way more than just a decoration on your plate! Parsley is antioxidant-rich and protects against oxidative stress, which is associated with mental health issues like anxiety and depression.
If you haven’t been including as much green into your diet, St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect time to start (don’t forget your glass of Guinness!). Looking for more stress-relieving foods? Check out Healthline and Health’s articles for more delicious foods you’d never expect to calm you down!
